We see increased support from operators worldwide for the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol as a source input in addition to more traditional options such as satellite or playout on site. SRT has proven itself as a reliable IP-based transport protocol in recent years. To facilitate this, we replaced the on-site playout server Proximus for a fully redundant SRT delivery. The streams originate from a GRIDSHOT® playout operated in the cloud.
With GRIDSHOT® playout in the cloud, our customers are able to distribute their channel in a cost effective way using IP based protocols such as SRT. This is more efficient than renting satellite capacity or installing a playout on site at each operator. In addition, we can forward the channel to a large IP distribution network, called Media Gateway. If you supply the channel to multiple providers, this network can be more cost effective than setting up an SRT for each party.
